Tribal Drop Earrings Tan and Black Corn-bead Tears on Brass

These earrings are crafted from natural seeds commonly known as Job's Tears or Corn-Beads. In 1830's America the Cherokee people were forcefully moved over the land, and these seeds are said to be the tears dropped along the way. Though not quite that old these seed beads are reclaimed from a vintage necklace to be remade into these earrings. The necklace had been in the collection of a woman who had numerous antique objects from Asia, so I can only imagine how the strand of North American beads came into her possession, my guess would be the glory of the 1960's. Polished round red brown petrified wood and black spotted fossil bone accent the seeds along with black ceramic glass to create earrings that hang straight from cleaned vintage brass wire nails for jewelry that's neutral in color and simple yet still exciting.

Night Magic Curio Box Necklace

This necklace departs from my normal yet stays within my magical nature based themes at the same time, as in Night Magic I created a curio taxidermy box. I enjoy the fact that this piece also incorporates vintage goods, which is also something that I use often. I discovered these wonderful glass topped pendant boxes and inspiration took over!

The box is made of sturdy oxidized brass and has a window in its door that allows you to see the contents. Inside is the head portion of a dried baby garter snake that I found in my old basement, a vintage brass door key (a symbol of unlocking the unknown), 2 faceted clear drops like rain, a black Czech Glass disk with 24 kt gold crescent moon and stars, and green decorative paper that resembles tree bark. The chains join together to close by a vintage clasp. The box pendant has a door that opens, but the items are glued into place to secure them.

Abstract Bat Brooch Assemblage

Abstract Bat Brooch by Tree Pruitt

Whimsical assemblage art bat brooch made of upcycled materials including an antique sugar bowl handle as wings & a blue letter B. Being well balanced it hangs secure & tidy by a solid brass locking pin back. It is sized at 3" long by 2 1/4" wide.

I began with a thick carded board which was painted. I painted a wooden letter & added tiny collage paper accents. Black plastic mesh was glued to the board using very strong clear adhesive. Then the metal handle was wrapped with brass wire and onto the letter as well to attach the two. That then was glued that down. Other paint accents were added including metallic gold highlights. The pin back was reclaimed from an old pin, cleaned, sharpened, then glued on. The entire piece was then carefully varnished to ensure that it is sealed.

Strand of Antique 18th Century Carved Bone Beads Necklace with Brass Frontier Style

Tribal inspired strand of 18th Century English hand carved bone beads and 16 small antique Victorian era ivory rounds re-strung with modern antiqued brass rounds on artificial sinew with an old style brass clasp for a Frontier style trade necklace. The flat bone disk in the center is a modern bead. Due to the solid brass beads this piece is not a light weight necklace, but it is comfortable for either men or ladies.

For your jewelry to last and look its best don't wear while sleeping, bathing, swimming, or exercising (especially leather will not wear well under moist conditions). Apply hairspray and perfume before putting on your jewelry because those sprays can cause damage to surfaces. Jewelry should be stored in a box or plastic zip bag away from moisture condensation. Most jewelry pieces can be cleaned with a light soap and tepid water wash or simply buffed with a soft cloth if needed.

In many countries a cowrie is still given to new brides as a good luck charm for fertility. In magic spells this type of cowrie is most often used to enhance intuition, aide during transitional phases of life, and in helping to fulfill needs. Because of the ocean tide connection with the Moon, and the fact that this species of cowrie is nocturnal, Snakeshead Cowrie could be useful in Lunar magic as well.

Each pendant is as unique as the individual shells and decoratively wrapped in wire by hand for unique one-of-a-kind charm. Add to your own satin cord, a favorite chain, your beaded necklace project. Such pendants could also hang as an amulet on a walking stick staff, leather pouch, or Native American flute.
